On the other hand, dozens of people (many on this forum) declare themselves Socialists (a Socialist is a moderate Communist with the same monstrous ends in mind, only preferring to dissemble a little about the methods) and Communists - and you can scream at me all you like for saying this - when the atrocities of International Communism, both in the theory and in the idea, from the evil revolution in Russia which toppled the rightful Emperor to the monstrosities still being wrought in China exceed the worst barbarities of Herr Hitler by a hundredfold.

I think you will find that socialism predated communism and that communism was a development of it. Lenin formed the bolshevik party as a way to seize and hold power following on from the failure of the Paris Commune.
I do hope you are not heading towards an apology for nazism, I suggest you look at the site rules.
Could I advise you to not use this book whom even the historians having participated to its writing (and not really suspects of a pro-communist bias) said it was biased and not historical?
So what is the horrible thing about communism that you are afraid the posters here like me want to do? And I do love the implication that we are worse than Nazis because we happen to share a term with Stalin (I refuse to call the Red Tsar an actual communist), I fail to see why people who have overall nothing in common with me at all mean I should be condemned on the same level as the skinheads and Nazi's I've marched against in the past.
You also clearly know literally nothing about what you're talking about in terms of what socialists, communists, and various other associated far leftists want.
Also as a sidenote: So what if Nicholas II was the "Rightful emperor" of Russia? He was a totalitarian in the same manner as the Red Tsar who came after him and whom had most of the same plans as Stalin for how to modernize Russia. Hell "sell crops for modern machinery and wonder why the peasants are starving" was basically a tsarist plan with the royal numbers filed off.
The Nazis were avowedly anti-conservative, believing national socialism to be an inherently revolutionary ideology. Their beliefs were obviously reactionary, but it's hard to paint any degree of Nazism as 'conservative' (or socialist either, just in case you thought that's where I was going).

this wholly depends on your definition of consercative. Well, and National socialism, which is a hodgepodge of ideas from different political views...
It's something of an oversimplification I'll admit, and strictly not an entirely accurate analogy. I was primarily trying to illustrate the absurdity of Lumsden's point.
I am not quite sure what this is all about.
