Throughout it's history, the United States of America has experienced a number of crises, whole decades have been engulfed by turmoil, world wars, economic depression, and civil strife so great it entraps the entire nation in war and in the end, the Union stands strong through it all. The Union stands tall and strong because the American Dream, whatever you choose to see it as, is alive and well. The American Dream means many different things to many different people, the ability to make something of yourself, the ability to work your way up out of poverty, the ability to speak freely and ultimately, the ability to be American. When the "peculiar institution" of the South tore the nation apart, it was the American Dream that brought the Union back together. When President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on the 22nd of November, 1963, it was the American Dream that ultimately bound the nation together in grief. This story seeks to center on the latter of these - and explore a new world. A world where the nation felt that it did indeed need Nixon in 1960, a world where a new Vice President binds the nation together in the fight for equal rights for black Americans, and a world where a different assassination takes place - one just as shocking and horrifying as ours, and one where the American Dream brings the nation together once more, as it has done since 1776, and as it will continue to do. With the stage being set, the Marigold Era of the United States of America is about to begin.
