"To meet PM of Canada today, here's to things going well"-The Nixon Diaries.

As Bremer stepped outside,he heard the sound of the wheels rolling, the Limo was to come around soon,he tucked his 9MM into his jacket, then it appeared,he dashed forward, firing wildly at the windows, first hitting a window, then one stray bullet crashed through the President's window, smashing through his shoulder, shattering it,then lodging in his lung,Bremer was detained by police immediately, the gun dropped to the ground, the Driver sped up to get to an Ontario Hospital, the PM Pierre Trudeau was informed by Phone call,as was VP Agnew, when the President was rushed to Hospital,it was too late, his lung had collapsed and he had internal bleeding,by 7PM he was dead.

Walter Cronkite was groggy,he was expecting to read out some crap about a movie or something, but when he heard the news,he jolted,he just couldn't believe it,Richard Nixon was dead.....

"Today,my friends,a tragic event has occured,President Richard Milhous Nixon has been shot dead in Ottowa,Vice-President Agnew is expected to take office in the Morning"

"The evening of April 11th,an evening I expected to just see Muskie trying to revive his brain dead campaign in Idaho, and failing Pathetically, instead it was a day of so called "Tragedy",Arthur Bremer was a troubled,as in weirdo, kid, who stalked his Girlfriend after she dumped him,he then thought of shooting either Wallace or Nixon, the eventual choice was obvious,we all now had to bow to Chickenshit Agnew as President"-Hunter S. Thompson,Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72

Ooooh, sounds interesting so far! Interesting choice to have Nixon assassinated in Ottawa. Agnew will still resign or get impeached in 1973, so who he picks as VP will be important.

"I,Spirio Theodore Agnew,do solemnly affirm that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States...."

The President was in a job he didn't want, faced with enemies from all sides,he was picked as VP to look good for the cameras and defend Nixon at every point,he wasn't chosen to be President,he was walking on a tightrope on who to pick for VP,if he chose another Conservative like him,the Congress Democrats would block it at any point,so he had to pick a so called "Compromise Candidate",he decided to phone a couple of people 3 days after Nixon's death...

*Phone Picked Up*
AGNEW:Hey,uh,Mark
HATFIELD:Um,hi President Agnew
AGNEW:I have an offer to make.
HATFIELD:Um,let me guess,it's about the VP slot?
AGNEW:kissingheart:laughter*,Well,um,yes.
HATFIELD:Forget it Spirio,I want to stay in the Senate,no question.
AGNEW:Alright then,Bye.
*Phone Hung up*

*Phone Picked Up*
AGNEW:Hello Billy.
SCRANTON:Let's cut to the chase Agnew,I don't want to be VP.
AGNEW:Well,why not?
SCRANTON:I'm gonna let out a secret,I'm running for the House.
AGNEW:Oh Great,um,which District?
SCRANTON:Uh,the 9th I believe.
AGNEW:Well,uh,good Luck with that,bye.
*Phone Hung Up*

Agnew was worried, the next couple of calls for VP were rejected, then he decided to make a final call to Ambassador George H.W Bush

*Phone Picked Up*
BUSH:Em,who is this?
AGNEW:Don't You Know? It's the President.
BUSH:Oh,sorry,I'm a bit tired
AGNEW:So,how would you like to be,um,Veep?
BUSH:I dunno.
AGNEW:please,c'mon.
BUSH:Uh,I guess so,see you tomorrow,Mister President.
AGNEW:Great,thanks.
*Phone Hung Up*

The Senate was to vote on the 17th.

Next Up,Pierre Trudeau!

Bush may be a CIA agent and showed his corruptability in Iran-Contra, but he's still better than Agnew.

Of course, perhaps Watergate will go worse with Agnew...

Another interesting TL from you that could lead down an interesting path. Agnew becoming president isn't a new scenario, but another take's always great. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

HOUSE VOTE TO MAKE GEORGE H.W BUSH VP,April 17 1972

YEA-230 Votes

NAY-205 Votes

SENATE VOTE

YEA-54 Votes

NAY-46 Votes

Bush Confirmed as VP!-New York Times,April 18 1972
George-HW-Bush-3-sized.jpg

Agnew was lucky, if 15 votes had switched and 5 votes also had switched, he'd have to go through the Painstaking Progress again, Bush was to take office the following morning

DEMOCRATIC IDAHO PRIMARY,April 17 1972

Hubert Humphrey 9.94%

George McGovern 25.14%

George Wallace 10.26%

Edmund Muskie 23.88%

Henry Scoop Jackson 4.18%

Shirley Chisholm 5.71%

Patsy Mink 0.74%

Uncommitted 19.18%

Muskie had managed to recover from his abysmal performance in Florida, and actually came within a points of winning, but that wasn't good enough, he was supposed to win if he wanted to actually win the nomination, also Wallace managed to break 10%, he was considering running as an American Independent again with Nixon out of the way, but after reviewing the latest polls putting him out in front in Michigan, he decided that he had a fair shot at winning and stayed in.

Trudeau was bored, he had to call a press conference due to the "Concerns" of Certain American interests about whether or not Canada had anything to do with Nixon's death, some calling it out as a Quebecois plot, and some saying that it was Security's fault for not paying enough attention, as he was walking up towards the hallway, he had a bad migraine, since he had a couple of swigs of Brandy the night before, but he straightened himself up to get ready for the questions.

REPORTER:Mister Trudeau, what about the suspected Canadian involvement in Nixon's assassination?

TRUDEAU:Canada was in no way associated with this incident.

REPORTER:Well, what about the accusation of Lax Security?

TRUDEAU:Look, Security was doing its best, it was because the shooter had dashed forward like an animal, this was in absolutely no way Security's fault.

REPORTER:Alright then, what about the supposed Quebecois plot?

TRUDEAU:I and all of Canada can assure that neither Quebec or the Bloc Quebecois party was in any way involved with the death of Richard Nixon.

At the end, Trudeau had a small smile on his face as he was walking out,he was hoping that this crap wouldn't be brought up again.

So, the PoD is the Bloc forms some 20 years early?

Anyway, it wouldnt be the PQ responsible, or even thought to be responsible, but rather a tiny splinter separatiste group, like the FLQ.

Whoops :p, I have sketchy knowledge about Canadian Politics at best, so that'd be retconned.

Also, it was Arthur Bremer, not the FLQ.
