The Madagascar Plan

What would have happened if Hitler had listened to the advice of his generals and instead of exterminating the Jews in Europe, deported them all to Madagascar? Would the Jews have stayed there after WWII as a sovern base against discrimination? Would they have any later legitimate cry for sympathy with no Holocaust to latch on? Oh how different a world we would live in today with no Israel causing drama.

Even if Hitler somehow decided he'd rather not do one of his main goals of exterminating the Jews, sending them all to Madagascar would be far too impractical. You can't just send thousands upon thousands of people to another nation without a lot of effort, resources, and international scourge, and Hitler can't afford the latter depending on the time without making the Allied nations lean ever closer towards declaring war on him. And this would not stop Hitler's need to destroy all the Slavs through war, and he won't divert resources to get rid of the Jews through less practical means if it's a deterrent to him.

I doubt many Jews would like being forced onto some island instead of their own homes, and I really doubt the French government will go along with this plan as well.

And if Hitler does this during the war, well, how will he get all these Jews to Africa when the Royal Navy is on his ass, and the Suez Canal is closed as well?

The general consensus the last time this came up was that a large percentage, if not most of them, die off in fairly quick order due to starvation and disease. Madagascar at the time wasn't able to produce enough food to feed the inhabitants who were already there never minds the millions of extra people that they would of just dumped there and I just can't see the Nazis sending relief shipments. It also had little in the way of industry, no infrastructure such as potable water supplies or sewage systems, and outbreaks of disease were already a problem.

l wonder though, before the war, Many countries would not accept the Jews that Hitler was expelling from Germany. Would the British stop the shipments knowing they would then have to take responsibility for them?
I wonder if Hitler thought of using them as human shields? Blast out news releases to the world saying were sending a convoy and dare the British to take them.

You have ONE chance to explain yourself on this. The Madagascar Plan would have resulted in the death of at least half of those transported.

I am giving you the benefit of the doubt, for the moment, and assuming you are simply clueless and not malignant. Given your thread about the French Revolution, I am probably wrong to give you even a chance to justify yourself here, but I will.

Post your reply.

BTW: He was malignant. A Puppet of the Banned.

More that is has been debated into the ground already. Really, threads like this shows why the site really needs to get a better search function.
