The Long term consequences of a Theodore Roosevelt victory in 1912

would Teddy's victory in 1912 lead to the Progressive Party replacing the Republican Party, or would America become a 3 party system, or would the Progressive Party fade back into the republican party.
In terms of policy, How does Teddy's 3rd term effect America diplomatically and domestically.

No, because he could not win on the Progressive ticket. The Progressive "Party" was just a faction of the Republican Party and its existence served only to ensure a Democratic victory.

If TR manages to force himself on the GOP (by a narrow margin, with close to half the party implacably against him) he probably loses in November, and even if he scrapes in he faces a hostile congress. Expect a very frustrating term with little or nothing achieved.

IMO, Roosevelt should have stuck with his original plan of sitting out 1912 and waiting to run in 1916. Ditto for RFK in 1968.
