The Long Road - An Exploration TimeLine

I'd prefer the relevant European affairs, just because I like to read my TLs in a nice chronological order. But up to you.

I've already begun Chapter 2. It deals heavily with the immediate fallout from the altered Reconquista, and then I'll make some larger jumps to catch up to the more 'modern' 1330s. It might be a little confusing, but I hope to draw at least a relatively clear picture, if you assume that what isn't mentioned isn't too different from OTL.

The areas of primary butterflies will of course be Iberia, France, and the Western Mediteranean, but will spread over time depending on peoples of interest or particular policy changes, etc...

EDIT: I was bored, so here's a map of Mali and environs c.1330s. It is incomplete, though you get the idea. Actually, Iberia is more like 1220s...

Chapter 2 required a bit more research (Eph the Papacy, the HRE, and medieval royal pedigrees...) and school has been really kicking my ass of late. I'm working on it, but its a paragraph or so a day, sadly. Time is a precious commodity.

Expect the next chapter within a week.

Read everything so far, and it looks good! Not enough African-related TLs on this site, and with the little ASB elements on the side...can't wait to see how that develops.

I actually hugely dislike the title and the framing futuristic elements; I think I'll change them when I have time. For now, though, it's spring break for me and I will be in lab doing work the entire time. Woot! I'll try to get the next installment up soon, but we'll see how that goes.

It looks like there won't be a chance for me to get another chapter up for a while yet, I have two months' worth left of university work to cram into one month before the semester actually ends. On top of that I have my full time job, volunteering, and my wedding.

For reference, today is the last day of my spring break, and I've been at school in the lab everyday this week from 9 AM til no earlier than 6 PM. I did, however, get to sit down and play Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for about an hour yesterday... that was nice.

For those of you whom are still interested, however, please subscribe if you haven't and you'll get the update as soon as it goes up. Though I might direct you all to a new thread with a new title and whole new layout... again, when I have the time.

I have the rough timeline out till about 1400, but there are some blackholes I'm unsure how to tackle... mostly centered around the Mameluks. Oh well. RAFO - Read and Find Out.
