The life and times of Adolph Notler

Just taking a guess, "Not Our Hitler?"

Its just a weird ass change, especially for a name. I mean, calling him Hitler in the story makes more sense than Notler.

Hell, in all honesty, Alois Hitler was born Alois Schicklgruber - it is not that far of a stretch just to have him shorten his name to Gruber, therefore his son will be Adolph Gruber or something like that. And it makes more sense if you want a different Hitler.

Can you explain to me why "Notler"?
It often happens that whenever someone on AH.com posts a premise in which Hitler has a different personality or priorities than usual that certain members feel the need to point out that "oh no, he was not like that at all" and call that alternate version of Hitler a "Notler" and his followers "Notzis" instead of Nazis.

It is kind of an inside joke. Poking fun at those who insist that history is set in stone and that based on how they perceive Hitler, certain outcomes are all inevitable. Yes - on a board that is about alternative history.

Well so instead of our infamous H-H we would Get "Geil-Gruber!"

Well if the living man is Ludwig Maximilian Erwin von Scheubner-Richter, he might influence the Germans to WORK with the (remaining) White Russians and prevent colloboration with Stalin.

The dying man is HESS???? (Göring might have a larger Impact)

Somebody who has a 1 year seniority in this place knows well what others, with 5 times bigger seniority, pretend not to know... I have ruffled the historical determinists feathers, didn't I? :D

I assume it was a genuine question of Darth Kiryan. It's not that the term is thrown around every time when the subject comes to an alternate type of Hitler.

And I veto "Geil Gruber!" Too casual, too coloquial.

Sounds interesting !

I hope that there will be continuation of this story, call me subscribed.
This has a possibility of creating a very different world from our own, opening interesting questions. Looking forward for more.

While I prefer realism of reasoning and of logistics, I do share your opinion of an idea that everything is predetermined in an "Alternative history forum" does sounds ridicolous.
Hope that this doesn`t cause offense of moderator gods :)

I won't continue it.

If Philip Dick had been a AH.com member and created a thread titled "The Man in High Castle" he would have first been trolled by the Historical Determinism Police and, had he persisted in his inconsiderate behaviour, banned for nazi fanboyism.

I have decided to stop posting and, since there are no other working alternate history communities, dedicate myself to other interests.

Sorry.
