The Korean War ending in Unification?

What would of occurred to have the Korean War resulting in both North and South reuniting? Can be going in favor for the north or south. (Yes I know that it is technically being 'fought' but that's not the point :p).

It very nearly ended in a North Korean victory. Had the United Nations commitment come later or the political decision been made to not commit US forces at all the North Koreans would have swept into Pusan very quickly and the war would have been over. Glorious Great Leader Kim Il-sung would have united homeland against Imperial Puppets.

United under South Korea equally only requires no intervention on the part of the People’s Republic of China. The United Nations Forces were nearly at the Yalu River when the PRC Volunteer Army intervened.

Alien Space Bats invade Earth and decree a united Korea as the ransom for leaving Earth alone. Either that or the USA decides to not intervene in 1950 (if the USA intervenes South Korea in some variant will survive the war) or the USA takes Chinese warnings literally and only sends ROK units up to the Yalu. Cook, UN troops were attacked by the Chinese the first time well before they all got to the Yalu and they dismissed it altogether. Douglas MacArthur had learned absolutely nothing from his Philippines disaster and was even more inexcusably stupid this time.

Just Mac keeping the 100 Km line between him and the Chinese would have ended in a SK/UN victory ... with a really big "demilitarized" zone between Korea and China, that probably with the time would disappear.

The Chinese are still going to intervene. The Chinese were planning to send troops in even before the Americans reached the 38th parallel IIRC and simply sending ROK troops north is not going to curtail a Chinese intervention.

If the French are more successful in the French Indochina War and start winning, maybe the Chinese will intervene down there instead, which could lessen/prevent their involvement in Korea. Just a thought.

Why? Their intervention IOTL followed warnings and fear that the USA was going to use Jiang Jieshi to restart the Chinese Civil War with a GMD triumph. The Chinese gave conditions where they'd be willing to accept the disappearance of North Korea, if those are met, North Korea's gone and the Korean War probably has rather negative cultural consequences when the USA turns to Indochina thinking that war's going to be just as easy as the other one was.

Get Japan to surrender earlier before August Storm. US would be able to take control of the whole peninsula. Or if Japan fights on another month or so, the Red Army takes all of Korea.

US forces reached the Yalu River at two points, unification was only prevented by the intervention of Chinese Forces, which is what I said.

No US intervention; North Wins. No Chinese intervention; South Wins.
