The Indians provided help in the manpower that Israel lacked in large projects, such as the construction of the Nation's first Nuclear reactor, finished in 1955 in the Negev.
So the Indians are capable enough that they can assist a foreign power in the construction of a Nuclear Reactor on their own. Good for them I guess.
Hey, the Syrians, Egyptians and Jordanians lasted the double of time, imagine how much harder a Third (Fourth?) round will be like for Israel.
There is no need to imagine that. The Egyptians and Syrians have far bigger fishes to fry within their borders. Lasting double the time is hardly any consolation as the Israelis have achieved far more than they did OTL. They could hardly do any better in the Sinai Front after taking Sinai and having true defensive depth there. They would have had to cross the canal and strike Cairo if they wanted to do more. On the Jordan front, they now have the East Bank of the Jordan River, adding more arable land and depth and the high ground of Jordan which can overlook parts of Israel no more. We have no idea how far into Lebanon have they advanced, you only mentioned that at Mansourieh, they encircled a unit of the Syrian army by the coast, which means Beirut has fallen, but how far north have they gone is yet unknown. If the entire Lebanon is taken then even Homs is within reach.
People laugh at France falling to the Germans in six weeks. The two massive Arab States were mauled in just two weeks. The Bomb must be the next priority for Israel now be the next priority for Israel and more resources can be diverted to it as the threat of conventional attack is now far. As the Israelis have far more Arabs within their borders, they can try to co-opt as many of them as possible. Beduins seem to be the most susceptible to such cooption. Shifting their main port to Sharm El Sheikh would mean that they can avoid the Strait of Tiran completely and by building a better Bar Lev line, the canal can be made impenetrable.
More importantly, is the Suez Canal closed now? If that is the case then Italian communications with East Africa will suffer greatly and the Israelis will not cooperate unless the canal is also opened to Israeli shipping.
I hope to make the development of India between 1949 and 1959 in a separate chapter unless the British chapter is too short.
Will eagerly look forward to that. If you need any info for India of that period, then please feel free to reach out.
