Okay...in April of 1970, Nixon gave the thumbs up for a series of military operations into Cambodia and Laos, both large scale ground assaults from the US Army and ARVN, and B-52 operations (the latter asked for by Cheighton Abrams).

Nixon did this, primarily, to find a way to give a "perceived success for Vietnamization."

So...let's suppose that Nixon (who, let's face it, was very prone to swings of opinion that hinged on his options at the time) decides that the best way to end this is not to attack into Cambodia and Laos in 1970, but to prepare for an invasion of North Vietnam, preferably with what regular units are in fighting shape from the ARVN and US Army forces.

So...fire away. What's your opinion?
