From the Annals of the Four Masters

M1094.2

The men of Ireland collected to Dublin, namely, Muircheartach Ua Briain, with Munstermen, the Osraighi, and the Leinstermen; Domhnall, the son of Mac Lochlainn, King of Oileach, with the Cinel-Conaill and Cinel-Eoghain; Domhnall, son of Flann, King of Teamhair, with the men of Meath; Donnchadh Ua hEochadha, with the Ulidians; and Godfrey, lord of the foreigners and of Ath-cliath, with ninety ships. These proceeded from the East to Magh-Laighean, and they burned Uachtar-ard, and routed the men of Munster, Leinster, and Osraighe, who fled, without spilling blood. [1] After this the Ulstermen camped for they did not wish to plunder Leinster, when they received a messenger that the men of Munster had come east again whereupon they hastened west to the place called Maighean Ratha whereupon they joined battle; in which Muircheartach Ua Briain lost his right arm but did not die.

From the Chronicle of Mann

In the year 1094, Godred along with the kings of Leath Cuinn fought the kings of Leath Moga and subdued a great part of Leinster.

In the year 1095, Pope Urban called for a crusade for the holy land. In the same year a great pesilence swept the land, taking with it Godred, who was buried in the island called Islay. He left three sons, Lagman, Harold, and Olave. Lagman, the oldest siezed the riegns of government. Harold rebelled against him, but as Lagman had the greater number of followers Harold fled to Norway.

In the year 1098, the abbey of St Mary of Citeaux was founded. Antioch was taken by the Christians, and a comet appeared. A comet is a star which is not always to be seen, but appears most usually on occasion of the death of a king, or the downfall of religion.

In the same year Magnus, King of Norway, son of Olave, the son of Harald Harfager, wishing to ascertain if the body of St. Olave remained free from corruption, ordered his tomb to be opened. The bishop and clergy resisted the attempt, but the king audaciously came forward, and by royal order had the shrine opened for his inspection. When he had seen with his eyes and touched with his hands the incorrupt body, a great fear suddenly took possession of him, and he departed in great haste. The following night Olave the martyr king appeared to him in a vision, and said, "Choose, I tell you, one of two things, either to lose your kingdom and life within thirty days, or to retire from Norway and never again to see it." The king, awakening from sleep, summoned his princes and elders, and related to them the vision. But they, in great alarm, advised him to quit Norway as soon as possible. He immediately collected a fleet and sailed to the Orkney islands, which he subdued, and, passing through all the islands and the south land, brought them under his dominion. After this he attacked Man with a force of 70 ships, including Harold, son of Godred, against which Lagman led a force of 100 ships and won. Magnus and much of his ships were wrecked upon Cinn Tìre. Without a fleet to attack Man Magnus instead subdued Alba and then returned to Norway.

Title brought me here...
I don't really understand much of what's going on though, the old English tone not helping.
Hope you continue...
