In the early days of August, 1540, Anna von Cleves, dearest sister to Henry VIII of England and his former bride, sent word to the King of England. For you see, there marriage was annulled on the statement that consummation was not achieved, when that was not the case. It seems, on the 29th of May that year, the King had drunk his share of wine and thus felt need for a woman. As his wife, Anna had fulfilled her duty for the first time, ending quite embarrassingly for the King, who refused to acknowledge the event. However, as the second month of his newest marriage began, Anna had interesting news for her son-obsessed husband. She was pregnant. And none could be the father but him.
