The Hominid Family Tree

Is it possible for us to share our world with another Hominid?

Say the 'Hobbit' or Homo Erectus arrive in Australia, or Neanderthals arrive in America, would such scenarios even be plausible?

And who is to say Humans stop their little 'Blitzkreig Bop' and act friendly towards said Cousin of our species? Would Homo Sapiens wipe out the other hominids?

Given a good butterfly net off in the Austronesian and American realms, what would be the ecological impact of a hominid in Australia or America?

(And don't give me the 'A Different Flesh' by Harry Turtledove crap. It wasn't as helpful as you might think.)
