The Great World Deppression- 1900 (my first TL)

Okay so this is a little ASB and my first timeline so go easy on me please. Its about a earlier depression and fall out in Europe, Brittan, and America. Its not done, just tell me if you like it and if I should go on with it
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Turn of the Century

People are rustling and bustling around the globe. Inventions like the telegram and printing press are all the buzz. In Russia a man named Vladimir Lenin is seen as a threat to the government and exiled.
In America the Reconstruction is slowly rebuilding the south and textile factories tick with the sound of Industrialism.
In Europe the Italian states are reconnecting, Austria has just formed an alliance with Hungary and is worrying the other Balkan states due to their now imperial power. The Ottoman Empire is as large as ever and extends from the Adriatic to the Red Sea.
In Asia the Qing empire dominates the East but China is on the verge of civil war between the jump start Communist party and the imperial nationals.

Brittan - September 25, 1900

People flock throughout the streets of England, checking boxes and filling out forms. Men leave there factories and others gallop from their Manors. Almost five million people of England come to cast their vote to choose their new Prime Minister.
They are represented by 11 parties. The two predicted by the local papers were the Liberal and Labor parties but the underdog Irish parliamentary party was prepared to make a good run after a merger with the Scottish national party. A platform of independence fuels religious fire between Ireland and England.

Belgium - September 30, 1900

Catholics, Socialists, Liberals. All three parties in a deadlock for the small nation. Only 1,700,000 eligible voters in the entire nation and there split between the three popular parties.

Brittan - October 1, 1900

17 million votes were tallied. The closest national election in British history came down to the three major parties. Ireland voted completely for their parliamentary party and the candidate , John Redmond, who also came out with about half of Scotland due to the merger with the Scottish national party. They became a frisky bunch and a highly betted on underdog..The favored Candidate, Lord Salisbury of the Liberal party, was hit hard in Southern England but won the most populous counties. He only won two very small counties in Scotland and just about split Wales. The Labor candidate Keir Hardy picked up the last of the counties in Southern Scotland and Wales and made it extremely close. At noon the new paper was released with the biggest news for England in years.
THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN AND THE NEW PRIME MINISTER OF THE UNITED KINGDOM IS KEIR HARDY!

Brittan - October 3, 1900
The 1386 members of parliament meet for the first time under their new Prime Minister. The first meeting of business resulted in a lashing of insults between the English and Irish representatives, when a man from the Liberal party made a joke about the take over of Ireland. A knife fight broke out and an Irish parliament member was hospitalized. Tensions grew between the two areas even more.

Belgium - October 5, 1900

The favorite Catholic party breaks up into two parts: The Roman Catholics and the Liberal Christian Party. Over a argument about the national governments amount of power .This causes a fall out in Belgium as the two parties start to fight. First fighting in the parliament then people start fighting in the streets. The Liberal party breaks into two between the Democratic Belgian party and United Liberal party. This fall out in all sides of the government de-stabilizes Belgium.

London and Ireland - October 14-16, 1900

Scottish and Irish members of parliament start to boycott meetings in protest of English rule over their domains. The same day a group of Irish terrorists called the Irish Independent Coalition or IIC bombs the house of Commons killing 33 and wounding 89.This is the first of a seires of terrorist attacks across London. Around 7:30 on Friday Keir Hardy is assassinated when 7 of the Industrial terrorists attack his car. Minutes later the members of parliament representing Scotland and Ireland declare their secession. Brittan falls into a economic fallout and within the next couple weeks they fall into a depression.

U.S - October 21, 1900

The British depression results in a fallout for the Southern Antebellum economy in the U.S. With Brittan being the top importer of southern cotton from states like Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama. The November elections are soon to come and this could be a large platform for the Southern Democrat William J. Bryan.

Belgium - October 25, 1900

Belgium breaks out into a civil war. The 4 major parties take separate parts of Belgium while Germany and France both make certain counties their puppet states.

U.S - November 7, 1900

People flock through the streets of big cities to vote for their candidate. Unlike the other nations around the world the U.S is based only on the Democrat and Republican parties. The southern Democrat William J. Bryan is running on the platform of aiding the farmers hit by the recent recession. William McKinley’s main platform, the gold standard, was highly ridiculed when other nations gold standard was thrown off by the recent depression…

The TL seems quite a bit ASB as you noticed yourself, but it i like it very much nonetheless. It seems very unique and i don't think i have ever read a TL in which there is a Belgian Civil War.

Also, i find it amazing for a first TL (personally i screwed my first TL greatly), it's very interesting and easy to read, so please continue! :D

no one has anymore feedback?Well the next part will be coming soon. I plan to put most all the great powers in either war or depression :)!

Well, if you insist...

Apologies in advance. I'm in a nitpicking mood today. So...

- I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that there was no Scottish National Party in 1900.
- On a similar note, the Labour party at this time is a fairly minor player. In the OTL 1900 general election Labour would elect a grand total of 2 MPs. The two major parties of the day are the Liberals and the Conservatives, who are in alliance with the Liberal Unionists, a breakaway faction of the Whigs who would later merge into the Conservative party. Also, there are only 670 seats in the house of commons at the time.
- While I'm at it, Lord Salisbury is a Tory. The Liberals are lead by Henry Campbell-Bannerman.
- The Chinese Communist Party does not exist, nor will it for the next 20 years.
- Reconstruction is over, and has been for a good quarter of a century.
- Antebellum literally means "before the war." In an American context, before the Civil War. Postbellum, the cotton economy is dramatically weakened, and the southern states always vote democratic. Texas and Mississippi and Alabama are voting for Bryan anyways.

That said, I actually enjoy this. Far from the most plausible TL on the site, but not to bad for a first shot. My best advice is try to match your ideas with some more research, so that your scenario is better grounded in reality.

But its still called an antebellum econemy.Anything that is built like the pre-civil war south is the antebellum econemy.Im taking Ark. History now...
Reconstruction was official over by then but the post slavery effects were still riding high in the south...
I tried to do as much research as possible.Sorry :winkytongue: remember its my first tl.

Deano1001,

No, it isn't. An antebellum "econemy" refers to economic activity that takes place during the antebellum period and not economic activity taking place in infrastructure built during the antebellum period.

Reconstruction was official over by then but the post slavery effects were still riding high in the south...

No, Reconstruction was over after Hayes sold it out during the '76 election. The Jim Crow backlash to Reconstruction is not part of Reconstruction.

I tried to do as much research as possible.Sorry :winkytongue: remember its my first tl.

It's a good effort for a first time, but it can be greatly improved.
