The Great Nebraska Sea

Best I can do based on the clues:

Impressive map. Someone should develop an ASB TL presuming this was the north america encountered when Europeans showed in in the 1500's. It is had to imagine a single "United States" extending to the pacific evolving from the 13 original British colonies, and Texas would almost certainly have remained part of Spanish Mexico (asuming a broad similarity to the pattern of colonization in our TL). What is the most likely development history for the western areas? Remain Spanish, be eventually taken by the British or Russians? Maybe a homeland for the eventual development of an independent native american regime?

Well I'm still not giving up on this one.

How would this event have effected you (or your family if you werent yet born in 1973) personally? I was recently conceived at this time and my parents were still living in Kansas City ,Missouri. They moved to Denver when I was 4 but who knows if they still would have moved with this new sea in the way. Either way I would have grown up on(or near) beachfront property.

I am bumping this.
I really like the premise and was wondering if anyone else has anything to contribute.
I made a map of this a few weeks ago, would anyone be interested in seeing it(BTW, can I post an attachment in .BMP format?)

Definitely please post.I know nothing about how to do it though. Can someone else answer?

Here it is,hopefully:

Inland sea2.gif

About .PNG: My computer doesnt have that format(At least not in mspaint.)
About California: Actually, thats a bit of a blooper on my part, the Nebraska sea story is somewhat similar to a campy disaster movie NBC did last year as a sequel to 10.5; 10.5: Apocallypse :rolleyes: The baisic permise in the first movie was a series of earthquakes that caused CA west of the san andreas fault to slpit away from the mainland; in the second movie(I only saw the first part, so most of this is guessing based on trailers for the 2nd part) A massive earthquake causes the mississippi river to open up creating an inland sea.(I think.)
So I took that and the Nebraska sea story and combined them into a really cool looking inland sea(I was also bored that day :p )

Well, A timeline...

Quaz 43.23.5 (approx) - A series of geolocial events "Earthquakes"* struck Northern continent. One Quake results in a crust drop of 400 sia. Resulting water, wind and ground displacement from this event destroyed human civilization. Follow-up events, including "volcanic eruptions"* effectively steriled Planet.

Quaz 65.13.11 - Survey mission arrives to investigate sudden ceasation of signals from "Earth" 250 Quaz earlier. Survey teams find signs of once planet-wide civilization that was eliminated be geologic event (NOTE: No sign of orbital collision found during mission.) Teams finds, at widely scattered locations near what seem to have been largest settlements, examles of written and recorded documentation regarding geologic events. Most material damaged, primarily by corrosive elements in immediate post event atmosphere.

Teams found no senient life forms. Largest surviving land creature is six legged exoskeleton approx. .05 sia in length. (NOTE: Samples of all representative types of surviving animal and plant types gathered for further analysis.)

Recommend that permanent orbit science station be placed in planet's orbit. Geologic event that snuffed out "Humans"* is unprecedented in our records and violates all known geological and planetary standards as known throughout the Arm. DO NOT recommend leaving Survey Teams on planet surface due to utter unpredictability of events.
