There were several attempts to create a unified Libertarian Party of the United States throughout the 1960s, culminating the the official creation in OTL of the Libertarian Party in 1971. With Jefferey Sorenson's meteoric rise in the 1960s again the Vietnam War and the Great Society ITTL, the creation of the Libertarian Party of the United States would come not only five years later, but secure an important victory in the 1972 presidential election, creating a strange new anomaly in the United States political system: the rise of the Gold State. The key to this victory was the political migration of thousands of libertarians to New Hampshire under the guise of the Porcupine Movement initiated in 1969.
