Machiavelli's History Of Europa, Book 1; Chapter 6:
It was about that time that Augustine of Canterbury was ordained by Pope Gregory I to travel to Britain and spread the Gospel of Christ to the Britons. He arrived on the Isle of Thanet in 597 and proceeded to the main town of one King Aethelbehrt of Canterbury, a Powerful King often called Bretwalda. Augustine was received with hostility by the natives, who were rather unresponsive to his message, persistent fellow that he was however, he was not deterred.
Eventually, he was brought to the attention of the king when he began openly preaching in Canterbury, as well as ordering his men to smash the idols in the city. The King ordered his arrest for disturbing the peace of the land, and he and his men were held in a cell for five months before being executed on the King's direct orders.
When Augustine and his party disappeared in Britain, the Pope sent more missionaries, as well as several dozen soldiers, to discover Augustine's fate. When they arrived, they were greeted with the same hostility, and warned that Augustine had been killed, and if they did not leave immediately, the same fate would befall them. They demanded an audience with the King, and when this was denied, the soldiers started a quarrel with a few of the Britons, ending with most of the soldiers and several natives dead. The Missionaries left immediately, and Pope Gregory ceased his attempts at the conversion of the Britons.
According to most Accounts, the last vestiges of Christianity were wiped out by the Pagans some years after this.

So yeah that was kind of all over the place, not to mention short. this is my attempt at a TL where north Europe remains pagan while the south is Christian. Anyway, I hope I can make this interesting
Europe is now called Europa for some reason (because it sounds cool), and Machiavelli (who for some reason still exists in this TL) now wrote a history on Europe.....Yep.
