Gustav Adolf's younger brother, Carl Filip, duke of Sodermanland, Värmland and Närke, married (in spite of opposition) Elisabet Ribbing in secret in 1620. Unfortunately, Carl died in January 1622 of camp fever whilst at Narva. Elisabet gave birth to a posthumous daughter, Elisabet Gyllenhjelm later in '22.

Now for my POD, the marriage was not only secret, but apparently also morganatic, so any child wouldn't have been able to claim the throne. But what if that posthumous daughter were born a boy instead. Events run parallel to OTL, meaning that Kristina is still born, Gustaf Adolf still catches a bullet (which seems to me more a case of when not if) on campaign, girl-king etc. Would this boy cousin be considered ahead of OTL Carl X? Especially since, unlike Carl Gustav, he would be completely dependent on Kristina (more a Victoria and Albert situation that Fernand and Isabella/William and Mary)
