The Girl-King's Heirs

Again a probably very obvious Swedish question.

Her entire life Queen Christina of Sweden expressed a distaste for marriage - some have cited her childhood recollections of her parents' marriage as her reason, others her supposed lesbianism etc - but there were three marriage plans I'm aware of from while she was queen - the elector of Brandenburg, Waldemar Christian of Denmark and Jan II Kazimierz of Poland.

My question is what if she were to marry and produce at least one child (2 at the most) AFTER she had abdicated and converted? Who might she marry (assume that she gets a severe bump on the head to change her mind about her OTL stance) and if she were to leave heirs, would they be accepted as having a claim (however unlikely) to the Swedish throne or no, being born to an abdicated queen and all? And how would this affect her casting for a crown to wear?

She will push her kids in line for Polish throne in 1667, as the nearest kin to Jan II. In OTL she tried to run for crown herself but nobody wanted a woman.
Her son, OTOH...

Well, if her son inherits her dad's military prowess and the Vasa temper, should be fun times ahoy for the PLC.

But after abdication would she be more likely to marry Protestant or Catholic? Reigning king or a second son? I for one could see her marrying a Medici or one of the Italian royal families if she's marrying while in Italy.

The idea of Queen Christina getting married is always an interesting one. She might rather take a prince from a Roman family (if only to avoid pissing of France and/or the Habsburgs). Also, France is less likely to support her candidacy for the kingdom of Naples IMHO if she has a son and heir. Part of what made her a good idea OTL was that she didn't and could designate a French prince as heir when she died.

The PLC might be more likely to accept her son as king to succeed John II. Of course, it would depend on how old the son is at the time of John's abdication/death. If he's old enough to rule without a regency, sure. If a regency is required, I think they'll go look elsewhere (since AFAIK there was no hard-and-fast rules in elective monarchy for a regency, so who would be regent? the Interrex? the Chancellor? Christina herself?)

Given how she fought the idea of marrying when queen, when there was need to secure the line of succession, I find it really, really hard to imagine her marrying after abdicating.
