The General And Andy Jackson

WI Napoleon had emigrated to America early in life and gone on to become a General in the U.S. Army? What impact might his tactical skills have had in the War of 1812 if he had been fighting on the American side?

With Nappy in the US rather than France it is questionable if there will be a War of 1812 (No Napoleonic wars -> British do not pressgang US sailors/US shipping doesn't offer refuge to British deserters -> One major cause of the war is removed).

Hmmm. Since the Napoleonic Wars were in a way a continuation of the Revolutionary Wars, they might still have happened under a different name-perhaps with Andre Massena taking Napoleon's place?

This also assumes he has similar tactical skills in this TL, he would have had different experiences so his abilities, and more importantly character (ie he may not end up as the sort of person who likes to go conquering) may have been very different

Very true. My pet idea for a "Young Napoleon emigrates to America" TL has him working as a fur trader and later as a Chief Factor with the North West Company.
