My beloved Chantalle DeMaresq,

It feels great to be finally out of the academy in Paris. I miss you greatly; I will try and be with you as soon as possible. I have been placed as second in command of a company.

Early tomorrow, my company will be sent east to patrol the Rhine River. We also will be trying to see if there is any chance of a Bavaria-Prussia alliance. If so, it is the fear of the general that they might turn on the mighty French forces and shove their heresies down our throat.

I miss you dearly and I promise to write frequently.

Your love,

Lt. Francois LeBlanc

Beloved Chantalle,

I wrote this letter to inform you that I have safely arrived in the Rhine River valley and that our men are currently camping. The days are slow and dull as our men march and patrol the Prussian border.

With the extra time on my hands, I have taken the time to drill my troops, they are a rowdy undisciplined amount of men, but I am sure that I will be able to whip them into shape.

Forever yours,

Francois
