Recently, I've been reading various summaries of Turkey's internal affairs during the interbellum and World War II. It struck me that, under the cover of Molotov-Ribbentrop and the wars in Europe and Asia, Stalin made attempts to recover every Tsarist territorial loss but one. While he took everything he felt he could get in Europe, Persia, and Chinese/formerly-Chinese Asia, he made no effort to recapture the cessions of the Treaty of Kars.

So:

[1] Can anyone suggest why this was the case? Was it just the relatively positive relationship between the two?

[2] Are there any likely PoDs that might result in an ultimatum to Turkey?

[3] Would Turkey have behaved in a substantially different manner during the war if they had been forced into a further land cession? The biggest question is naturally whether they would have been amenable to participation in the German invasion of the Soviet Union.
