Can't imagine Kennedy's "Yeah, I'll run, but only if you don't get in my way." Attitude went down well in some quarters. Sounds like things really get heated up in the next war and that photo of Howard Dean is oddly... unsettling.

With a Great War at the start of the 21st Century and America fighting alongside Britain, does this signal that the British Empire will begin declining as OTL trends begin to come into play?

Should not think so. This British Empire is a lot stronger than OTL's and the trends you mention barely exist., other than a worrying couple of US parties called Christian and True American, a slightly worrying echo of today;s lunatic fringe Hopefully they will stay in seperate bunkers and not infect the GOP.

I think a lot depends on how likely it is for the dominant currency to be knocked off its perch by another one in a 21st century environment. The real moment where the British Empire ceded global dominance to the US OTL was when the dollar replaced sterling as the main reserve/international trading currency in the First World War. But (and not to get too close to discussing politics here) it seems clear from the recent Russia-Ukraine conflict that that's not an easy thing to happen in our more liquid international environment untethered from gold. In TTL, London, the City and the Bank of England are the equivalents of New York, Wall Street and the Fed OTL and it's the power of those organisations that are really anchoring British Imperial power. The Fed doesn't even exist TTL as its founding was butterflied away and the US government and Wall Street basically does its banking in London.

Also, I'd note that TTL Great War isn't going to be one of those conflicts where the US can just arm/fun everyone else while the homeland is untouched...

What is the Russian anthem ITTL? Some new song made ITTL? Slav'sya? Anthem of Free Russia?
A variation of "Hey, Slavs"

Yeah, I'll be really interested to see how this Mexican invasion of America plays out

Oh also if I had a nickel for every Rattigan britwank where there was a war between multiple nuclear superpowers in the 21st century where nukes didn't fly I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

Did it happen in ASSM? I’ve genuinely forgotten…

EDIT: I’d forgotten about the Yugoslav and African Wars. Tbf I think they were meant to be more proxy wars like Vietnam and so forth than WWIII analogies…

The Yugoslav War IIRC definitely did involve American troops outright clashing with Soviet and French forces.

Shouldn't Hume have announced his retirement following new Co-op leader selection?
Unless the IPP was without a leader for the better part of a year following Ahern's resignation or a national unity government was formed in response to the Great War?

Fuck, you're right. One of the inevitable consequences of trying to make this a daily thing is that I'm making these dumb little mistakes more often than I'd like to.
