the effects pre-Colombus Chinese Colonization of the New World

How different would have the new world developed had there been a few East Asian ports within the new world prior to European discovery? Would the Native Civilizations have lasted longer, seeing as how conversion would have been less important to the East Asians? How would this effect New World trade roots and European Colonization? What would the new world be called, and will we refer it to as the western hemisphere or the eastern hemisphere?

Our Sinoguy, Hendryk, did a timeline on this IIRC.

I take issue with the idea that conversion was responsible for the end of native cultures. COnversion was never a government objective in the English colonies/British colonies/United States. But just look at Paraguay. Run by the Jesuits for much of the colonial period, and they still speak Guarani.

Also, the Chinese have horses, so the natives are sill getting nasty plagues.

It's here for anyone who's interested. And pretty much up for grabs, too. There are several plausibility problems with that TL, but I believe I got the effects of cross-cultural contact about right.

The germ package that the Chinese would bring to the New World would indeed be every bit as deadly as the one brought by the Europeans in OTL--perhaps even more so, considering that various acute strains of influenza are endemic in China.
