The Eagle in the East: Pyrrhus Among the Successors

Many Pyrrhus related timelines relate to the man's spectacular whirlwind career in Magna Graecia and Hellas proper, but what I want to talk about here is: what if he never got the chance? What if, in the course of his exile during his youth, he never returns to Epirus? Perhaps Ptolemy never gives him the resources to take back his throne, perhaps the Antigonids never hand him over to the Ptolemies in the first place or palm him off to another power instead. What are the possibility of such a thing happening, and what would the effects be?

Thinking about this more, I think one of my favorite ideas is Pyrrhus managing to carve out a moderately sized kingdom of his own in the wake of the Antigonid collapse, similar to Pergamon or Pontus.
