" The Eagle has Landed"

On November 6, 1943, an operation was launched by the SS to capture or kill Winston Churchill. Obviously from history,it wasn't sucessfull. But what if they had been able to kidnap Winston Churchill?

There was. It had to fail because it was HISTORICAL fiction. But what if it had succeded? And I know germany would still have lost the war.

Germany still loses.
Britain has got a new war hero and a reason not to give in into any German peace proposal. I can see an earlier or even harsher bombing of German cities.
Who might be elected then? I don't know, I am not too firm when it comes to younger British history.

But it might have a stronger effect after the war:
During the Nuremburg trials, the kidnapping and assassination of Churchill is another reason for hanging some guys more.
Maybe an assassination inflicts post-war Germany, esp. the foundation of the Bi-Zone and of the Federal republic.
And British Secret Service would be more prepared in future. We would also read more novels dealing with the kidnapping and/or assassination of a prime minister. Like "aSSaSSinated" on the cover of several books, with the SS rune.
Probably James Bond would have an adventure like this.

And in this forum, we would discuss what would have happened if either a) the assassination failed or b) the British had assassinated Hitler.

Maybe the British did try to assasinate Hitler. All they succeded in doing was giving him brain damage, which explains his idiotic decisions and mental state.
