The Duke of Buckingham survives in 1628

I'll admit for someone who is such a Cavalier as myself, even I have to have doubts over George Villers, the first Duke of Buckingham, who as we all know was bumped off in 1628 by a certain John Felton in 1628, therefore I would like to know if I may be permitted to pan out what might have happened if he had not been killed and, if permission is again given, could he be saved by my 17th century counterpart (who I am hoping will get to have his debut at any living history events I am able to get to this year)?

I imagine the man who killed him is arrested and killed in turn, Buckingham is deeply relieved and your character likely gets a knighthood something that would undoubtedly anger parliament
