The dream is over: NFL re-drafts after "All-Pro Season"

Here's an update of where I stand on building the timeline.

After the re-draft, as stated earlier, I built an Excel file - which is internal since I haven't used Google Docs and don't know how to share it - which contains the names of all 704 players in the NFL starting lineups at the end of the 2005 season. What I'll do now is trace what happened to every single one of them in the All-Pro season.

  • Some of them stayed on their current franchises. The Texans (founded only five seasons earlier, in 2002) are an extreme example of this, but this was also the case with the other newer NFL teams, like the Jaguars, Panthers, and Ravens (which remember is technically an expansion team and had none of the old-school Browns players available, despite the move).
  • Others transferred from one team to another (e.g. Kurt Warner went from the Cardinals to the Rams, Terrell Owens from the Eagles to the 49ers).
  • A third group of players were picked for college teams; indeed, that encompasses everyone who was in the redraft.
  • The fourth group of players were passed over for both and had to find other teams to "play for." I implied that a development league would have to be created at various points in the draft account; others may have "gone back" to their high-school teams, for which statistics are not universally available nor would be created as was the case in the "minors."

Once I place everyone for the following season, I will figure out what happens!
