The dreaded Llama Pox

OK probably been done (been drinking search-fu not great atm) but what if there was an endemic disease in the New World that was as virulent to Europeans as their diseases were to the natives inhabitants?

Obviously this will play merry hell with exploration, colonisation and conquest ~ but what happens if it makes it back to Europe?

I'm big in the belief that syphylis did in fact originate in the New World, and it was quite virulent back in the day compared to its mild form today. But when compared to everything the Europeans had, mumps, measles, small pox and all those other "childhood diseases" it wasn't able to have much of an impact. I know a lot of arm chair historians on AH don't like Jared Diamond's theories but his books put forth good quality explanations and accurate history regarding diseases, evolution, etc etc between the old and new worlds (and for all the Diamond bashing I can turn around and bash those same people for writing alternate histories that show a complete misunderstanding or cluelessness about how real history actually unfolded).
