The War of Independence
Tensions were rising all over the Thirteen Colonies. The people that lived there wanted to be independent, not burdened with the taxes of their colonial masters.
By 1775, the tensions had erupted to full out war. But the British response to tax problems were changing of the minds of those in some colonies, especially in New England. Finally, war erupted. In this rebellion, only 6 colonies participated in active revolt. They were Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware.
By 1783, the revolting colonies had won. The United States of America was formed, with its capital at Savannah in Georgia. George Washington became the first President of the USA.
