the division of spanish empire

there was any possibility that Spain could lose its colonial empire at some point during the succession of Charles II issues?. I´m interesting in a way to "reduction" of the spanish empire so I would be so grateful if some charitable soul could inform me.

Didn't the French claimed the Philippines in one of the treaties prior to the War of the Spanish Succession?

One problem with a division of the spanish empire would have been the spanish important noblemen and the clerics. They wanted the spanish empire kept as one more than everything else, because they feared a decline in personal power and wealth. The historian Roosen claimed that a new king, who agreed to the partioning of the empire would have certanily faced (armed) opposition from the spanish elites.

Well, yeah, but in fact i´m not seeking a total partition. I´m seeking something like Gonzaga says. Some parts at least.

yes, but losing some parts of the empire means also losing power and wealth for at least some important persons. the spanish nobility wanted to preserve the spanish colonial empire as it was, if a new king would agree to giving away parts of it and thereby show weakness he would have a hard time getting the loyalty of the nobility and the clerics.
