'The Divided Union', A Civil War Era TL.

Well, folks, this particular idea I've been throwing around for some time, but I was kinda busy on the '200 Years' TL that Mr_ Bondoc and I had been working on. However, though, I really wanted to branch out, and have a TL of my own on here, while I work on some other stuff.

Rules, requests, and stuff:

1. Anybody can post any ideas that of what they'd like to see{although, unlike '200 Years' or 'XXth Century' it isn't a collaboration effort, but that certainly doesn't mean I won't be willing to adopt a few ideas here and there ;)}
2. Please, no flaming, okay?
3. If you'd like to criticize, whether it be addressed to me or anyone else, please, be constructive......okay?
4. Please don't worry about double posting. It happens from time to time.
5. Enjoy. :D

The PoD is in 1858; the murders of over a dozen escaped slaves in Kentucky, and the collapse of 4 Northern banks after a financial reform bill signed by President Buchanan goes terribly awry.

Feb 3, 1858: A bill introducing currency reform as requested by Southerners is written

Apr. 11-12, 1858: Four slaves escape from a plantation in North Carolina to try find some freedom up north. Unfortunately, they all die in Kentucky when they are ambushed by bandits and murdered.

May 2, 1858: There is a major debate in Congress about the bill, and whether it'll help solve the country's recent financial problems.

Jul. 13, 1858: The bill passes, but it causes a major problem......several industries up north were dependent on Southern tariffs...........this in turn, causes several banks to collapse completely.

Sep 4, 1858: The governors of the states of Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina all demand an immediate fix to the problem.
