The Democrats in 1860

Just curious how you guys think the different Democrats running for POTUS in 1860 would fair had any of them been elected. So,

What kind of President would John C. Breckinridge be? Would his fire-eater rhetoric further polarize the nation? Can he avoid the Civil War? What's the likelihood he's relected? Etc.

What kind of President would Stephen Douglass be? Assume he doesn't die in 61 and at least lives 10 more years. Would he ever be able to fix the Democrats? What's his relationship with the South or Republicans? How does he feel about freedmen? Etc.

What kind of President would John Bell be? Would his centrism be a benefit or an annoyance to the deeply divided nation? What happens to the Constitutional Union Party now that it's been legitimized? Does John Bell have what it takes to avoid the War or just kick the can down the road? Etc.

Let me know!
Shalom
