History: After the move of the Phoenix Coyotes to a more hockey friendly state, this team joined the same year as the Minnesota Wild did. Sport: Football
Team Name: Alameda Invaders
League: Continental Football League
Division: Pacific
Year Founded: 1983 (as the Oakland Invaders)
Stadium: Thompson Field (will share with the Alameda Hornets (out of Alameda High School)
History: After a Failed Attempt to Relocate the Raiders from Oakland to Los Angeles as Al Davis wants to keep the Team in Oakland, Bay Area real estate magnates Jim Joseph and Tad Taube started a new Football Team to Play in a new Spring Football League in 1983 called the United States Football League after the Original Owner of the USFL's Los Angeles Franchise, Alex Spanos, bought the San Diego Chargers instead, Joseph and Taube flipped a coin to decide who would buy the Los Angeles rights. Joseph won the toss, selling his stake in the Invaders to Taube. As it turned out, Joseph was forced to move his team to Phoenix, Arizona as the Arizona Wranglers.

1983 Season: Led by the league's 2nd ranked passer QB Fred Besana, WR Gordon Banks, and ex-Raiders HB Arthur Whittington and TE Raymond Chester, the Invaders won the Pacific Conference with a 9-9 record. The Invaders gave a valiant effort in the opening round of the playoffs, but were overrun by the eventual league champion Michigan Panthers, 37-21 in front of 60,237 rabid fans in the Pontiac Silverdome (The game was the largest turnout for any USFL game in the 1983 season).

1984 Season: The Invaders were picked by most to again challenge for a playoff spot in 1984, but their powerful offense fell apart in the first half of the season, scoring only 82 points. The team was unable to run the ball and lost 9 straight to open the season. With the emergence of RB Eric Jordan, the Invaders running attack rebounded and the team won 7 of its last 9 games. The defense was strong throughout the season finishing 7th in points allowed. However, attendance tumbled to 23,644 per game--nearly 8,000 fewer than in 1983.

1985 Season: Taube began looking for new investors when it became apparent that the USFL was going to vote to switch to fall play in 1986, knowing he would be competing directly with the San Francisco 49ers. He merged his team with the Oklahoma Outlaws and bolstered with key players from the Outlaws went 13-4-1 in the regular season and was able to reach the 1985 USFL championship game. The championship game was a rematch of sorts with Chuck Fusina's Stars, who now played in Baltimore; the Panthers had upended the Stars in the league's inaugural title game. The Invaders were in the midst of a potential game-winning drive when a personal-foul penalty derailed their momentum, allowing the Stars to defeat Hebert's Invaders 28-24, and claim indisputable bragging rights as the league's all-time best team.
Despite reaching the championship game, the team's attendance fell again, to a barely sustainable 17,509.

Then Came in 1986: The USFL had planned to deal with playing in the Fall but Their Sanctioning Body the Pan American Federation of American Football bought it out and folded the USFL forcing all of our teams to play in new leagues including the Oakland Invaders in which they found a home in Thompson Field in Alameda High School after getting a lease to use their stadium as they entered the United Football League and finished 14-2 awarding a ticket to the UFL Championship as the Invaders defeat the Sacramento Redwoods 30-26 to clinch a spot in the Promotion/Relegation Challenge and won.

The Late 1980's Where really a success adding many players from the Transfer Pool like Mervyn Fernandez (of the British Columbia Lions - WR), Jim Zorn (of the Seattle Seahawks - QB) and "The Hawaiian Punch" Robbie Kahuanui (from the Atlanta Rebels - RB) entered home which led to the Invaders winning More Division 2 Games and made it to Division 1 early in 1991 but ended with a 4-14 forcing a Return Trip back to Division 2 after a 29-20 Loss to the San Diego Chargers under starting QB John Friesz.

In 1992, Alameda Invaders just made a Chance to Head Straight Back to Division 1 with Bob Gagliano (out of Utah State) calling the Shots on Quarterback, The Invaders just made the Right Move as Gagliano got 260 Completions for 377 Attempts for 3,122 Yards however on a Thursday Night Game which aired on CMC as the Invaders take on the Vallejo Thundercats, Gagliano fired 3 Touchdown Passes to Mervyn Fernandez in a 36-27 win at Thompson Field, Which Earned a Possible Chance to Return at Division 1 if they can win the Playoffs but unfortunately lost to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Western Championship 26-21.

However the Alameda Invaders might get a shot of entering Division 1 and they did in 1997 as starting QB Troy Taylor stoled the Show after the 1996 Grey Cup Challenge as they defeated the Nashville Strummers (led by QB Bubby Brister) 23-16, The Invaders now under QB Troy Taylor (out of UC Berkeley) led the Invaders by scoring 2 Touchdowns on On The First Week of the 1998 Season defeating Ryan Leaf and the San Diego Chargers 16-14 at Qualcomm Stadium.

Later on 2001, Troy Taylor decided to Retire after 11 Seasons of Playing in the NFL before working as a Color Analyst for the California Golden Bears in 2005, as the Invaders made more success when they got new players from the Transfer Pool including the addition of the Dozier Brothers Drew (QB) and Daniel (TE) who previous played football for Encinal High School had a Success however brings a Chance at Leading the Invaders back to Division 1 which it will happen as the Invaders are Trying to get a Chance at Bringing Division 1 by having a 3rd Team in the San Francisco Bay Area.
