January 17 the Northridge eartquake happens downtown LA during rushhour on a 7,6 on the richterschale (otl 6,7) and thousands of persons are hurt. As the country steel feels the shockwaves a earthquake in San Fransisco on january 20 happens. Its a 8,6. Alcatraz looses one whole section of the wall, the Golden gate crack in places, but still holds, major fires and tens of thousands deaths

February: During the Lillehammer olympics a palestinian terrorist group kidnapp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Shmerkin , Israels only competitor in the olympics. Another group attacks the US figureskaters, but are knocked down by the skaters themselves before a bomb detonates killing every US participant in the figure skating. The norwegian police act better some say that the Germans in Münich 72 and find and arrest the group taking Shmerkin. Olympics continue despite of this, but several nations abstain for days letting Sweden win lots of medals(that they dont accept).

Mars 27: During the Academy awards Timothy McWeigh bombs the convention center in Las Vegas were its held(due to the earthquake the year before ). The actors Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jacksson, Jodie Foster, the host David Letterman and singer Elton John plus 100 of the audience(nonceleberties) are dead, most of Hollywoods actors attending is injured. This marks the begining of the end for militas were Timothy had been a part off, or rumoured to be a part of.

August 4: Croatia starts operation Storm crushing Serbian resistance in Croatia, and aided by other states they invade Serbia itself. Russia tells Croatia to stand down "OR ELSE". Croatia withdraws to the border.

During the opening cermony of the Atlantaolympics Bill Clinton is injured by a sniper that his secret service bodyguards are quick to find and dispose off leading to conspiracy theories, but those arent heard of to much because of what happens on day two when 5 airliners are highjacked over US space at the same time by terrorists and striking the Congress, one of the World Trade centers, Sears Tower, the White house and the Pentagon. The world is shocked as the pictures of WTC and Sears collapsing. Had it been another day than a Saturday more people would have died. During the same time a member of Hamas detonates a dirty bomb in the swimmingstadium at the olympics.
