The Count of Anjou tries to invade Normandy while William of Normandy invades England

What if by the time William of Normandy had his troops conquer England, the Angevins conquer Normandy since the Angevins have claims on Normandy via the maternal line, what would happen to William if he returns to France finding out that his own duchy is now taken over by the Angevins.

Could they had even mounted much of an attempt?

There was a bit of a family spat (read civil war) going on throughout this time and the count had repeatedly lost territory.

In OTL Count of Anjou indeed conquered Normandy, but Anjou's lords did not replace the original Norman lords, that's totally different from Norman conquest of England.

Perhaps Anjou could ally with Brittany, in order to war with Normandy while William is away.
