Statehood is highly unlikely given the miniscule population and tax base. Rather, I suspect that had Greenland become US territory, it would be a closer-to-home version of Guam or American Samoa. With the Cold War now apparently over, it wouldn't surprise me if there were some sort of move to transfer Greenland to Canada one way or the other: geographically, it would make sense; politically, there are few enough locals to make sufficient noise that it would really draw much attention--and in any event, whichever federal government had nominal suzerainty over the island would likely let the locals pretty much look after themselves with minimal intervention. Assuming that Greenland would pass from the US to Canada, I suspect it would be attached to Nunavit, or possibly to Newfoundland and Labrador if there were enough sentiment to join an actual province rather than a territory. Not a chance it would get attached to Quebec since there's next to nothing in common there.
