Also, regarding '72 since it was mentioned upthread, McGovern shouldn't normally be able to win even on easy, but it could be cool to at least see if you can do better than McGovern's OTL 23.2% loss
But also, apparently McGovern polled competitively with Nixon when paired with Ted Kennedy as his VP in hypothetical polls. Of course in real life, Kennedy wanted nothing to do with McGovern, but if they made him a running-mate choice anyway, that could potentially be a scenario where one could at least narrowly win as McGovern if they do everything right
