The Blue Lotus, a "Fight and be Right" short story

Nice story, but I'm wondering about one thing: does Fleming have diplomatic or consular immunity? Those two differ a bit, especially when it comes to being caught red-handed doing crime...

Poor old Peng. Should have taken the vest.

Very good stuff Ed. My only complaint now is that its so short! I think a much meatier tale could be built out of this. Still, very entertaining. An interesting premise regarding diplomatic immunity and Indian opium fields. And an excellent concluding line.

Question: is the Welshman supposed to be someone? I can't place the reference.

The Englishman sniggered. “What, the chink? There's a war on. That’s military action, not murder. Who’s the other?”

Aren't China and Britain at war? Or am I mistaken?

My reading of the posts is that the Tongs are smuggling out British (or Indian,
although I bet I know the priority) POWs in exchange for heroin.

I guess the Inspector can rest easy knowing that Fleming either gets revolutionary justice or gets captured when China decides that extraterritoriality is no longer useful.
