The Battle of the Mountains 1862

Okay what if McCellan, in a completely atypical move decides to attack the southern postsitions full on after recieving timeline 191? Would the war have ended there or would it have dragged on?

You mean like Turtledove's books? Doubt it. They are so implausible anyway. And besides, McClellan wouldn't have taken advanatge of it.

Let me Help, these Guys have NO Respect ...

If you're Asking if McClellan Could have Ended The War if he had Just Gone Full Bore After Receiving The Captured Orders ...

Well Hell Yeah, But then he Wouldn't Have Been McClellan!

OK, McClellan captures Lee and his Army. Now why does that necessarily end the war? The South still had lots of good generals and more men too.

What happens to Lee, btw. Could he negotiate a peace?

Also, what happens if the Lee's Army just breaks up and scatters? Could this be the Battle of the Mountains envisioned?

Most of the Confederacy’s good generals were with Lee’s Army or in subordinate positions to not especially competent generals. This also leaves the Confederate capitol largely unguarded.

That doesn’t end the war, but it likely shortens it significantly,

What do you mean by negotiating a peace? Lee can ask for terms for his surrender, he can’t go farther than that.

Also, what happens if the Lee's Army just breaks up and scatters?

It probably ceases to exist as a fighting force.
