Hello all, whilst I was away this week on my University induction course I had along some reading matterial in the form of "Arrow" by the Boston Mills Press. A fabulous book for anyone who wants to understand the story of the Avro Arrow and an insight into just how complex the production of a Fighter aircraft is. Anyway as I was reading I came across this statement made by Dr. Courtland Perkins, Chief Scientist USAF, in 1957. At this time the USAF had put out a contract for a design study for a long range interceptor. Dr Perkins suggested that either the Phantom or the Arrow could be suitable candidates as interim craft.

In fact Perkins goes on to state that the Arrow in fact came clouser than to the requirements than anyrhing else that the USAF had. So what if the USAF had placed an order for Avro Canada Arrows?
