the assasination of Walther Rathenau

I saw a documentary last sunday about Germany in the 1920s. one section was about the murder on Walther Rathenau, the German minister of foreign affairs. for the ones who do't know him: he was an intelectual, writer and industrialist. There a quite a few historians who believ he was the only man capable of keeping Germany together and possibly stop the rise of Hitler. Unfortunatly he was killed in '22, by right extremists. Ironically, they didn't even killed him because of the fact he was a jew, nor did they like the small party called NSDAP or it's leader.

I have a question and a challenge:
What would've happened had Rathenau not been assasinated. Could WWII have been avoided or changed by this?

my Idea

Walther Rathenau become later Chancellor of Germany
durnig depression of 1929, He fight against devastating effects.
as a leading industrialist of German

majority of German celebrate him as a savior
Questioning the anti-Semitism of so obsure little party like NSDAP

there is that Feamos "UFA Wochenschau" clip were Hitler attack Rathenau as "Dirty Jew"
and people throw rotten tomatoes and eggs at him and then he beaten up by the angry mob. :D

But there were also harsh criticism by the politcal left.
they compare him with brutal capitalist Henry Ford
Especially the USSR saw in a deadly enemy of communism in Europe.

Rathenau had to fight the German communism party KPD.
the KPD was planing Coup eta (Putsh) agaist German goverment
on personal Order from Stalin himself !

but the Putsh is Failure
the KPD force finds no support under German worker loyal to Chancellor Rathenau
worst even worst enermy of Rathenau, the NSDAP attack the KPD !

then the impossle happens USSR invade Poland to Attack Germany
to help the KPD

This is the beginn of second big war.

Not much. IMO, he had made too many compromises by that time with the Establishment to save the Republic. And, I just do not think that he had that steel in him to deal with not just the Left, but the far stronger Right.

IMO, the real POD would be what if Streichmann didn't die in 29 (I believe). Here was one man with enough balls to face down the military and enough guile to fool even the French into thinking he was a harmless man. If he survived, I think that not only would there have been no rise of Hitler, but the "WWII" would have been only against Poland and the USSR.

I'd give Germany an excellent chance in that case.
