January 17th, 1900: Vladimir Lenin dies of tubercolosis in his exile in Siberia.
February 10th, 1900: Another offensive by the British forces turns into a disaster, as they are forced into retreat by the Boers.
February 14th, 1900: A cavalry division led by John French tries to attack Kimberley. But they are beaten by the Boers. Driven by the victory, the Boers start an offensive, to drive the Brits out of South Africa.
February 27th, 1900: As a result of the Boer offensive, the British only hold the coastal lines in South Africa. A long painful siege begins. Also, the British public becomes more and more rejective of the war.
April 4th, 1900: Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, is assasinated by a plumber in Brussels, Belgium. While being in the middle of the Second Boer War, Britain enters a period of mourning.
April 5th, 1900: Queen Victoria names Albert Edward's son George as the new Prince of Wales.
May 1st, 1900: The last British troops pull out of South Africa, leaving it entirely to the South African Republic and the Orange Free State. This ends the Second Boer War which leaves a defeated Great Britain back.
June 9th, 1900: The South African Republic and the Orange Free State form the United Boer Republics (UBR). Soon after, many Boers that fled from British rule return to the new Republic. The German Empire is the first country, to acknowledge it. Much to the dismay of a still humiliated British Empire.
February 1st, 1901: Georg V. in coronated at St.Paul's Cathedral as the new King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
