Thatcher Prime Minster till 1997

so I've been reading about Thatcher's regrets about being forced from power in 1990, mainly the idea that she might undertake "Thatcherism with a Human Face" (I doubt she would really do anything Social minded) so if some how Thatcher doesn't loose the Tory leadership in 1990 and than wins the 1992 election (or whatever date is set) and Thatcher is PM till 1997, what does the UK and the world look like with-out PM Major and with 18 years of Thatcher?

Thatcher didn't intend to be PM that long; if she had survived 1990 and managed to win the '92 (or '91) election (which I do not think she would have), she was planning to step down in 1994 after 15 years as PM.

fair enough I'm less into the "how" and more into "what happens next" as for stepping down in 1994, maybe I mean if Blair died in 1999 we'd all have said "well he agreed to step down after 2 elections" when in OTL he went through 3 elections

If she had won out in 1990, and won a narrow election win 1991, she would have resigned around 1993. She would have not gone and fought a 5th election.

ok I get that most likely she'd only last 2-3 more years (4 on the outside) I don't care much about how long and why than what she does in those years, and what happens after, who was next Tory Leader/PM what more Thatcher (Thatcher beating Kinnock) would do to Labour

The problem is that it's hard to see Thatcher surviving against she did a U-turn on the poll tax, and she was adamantly opposed to that.

Perhaps if we use handwavium i.e. bomb-plot gets Thatcher bumped on the head, makes her a bit more compromising and drops Poll Tax for dropping ERM so Heseltine gets less support.

Thatcher has a smaller majority than Major, but enough to command and resigns in 1995.

What happens in that time?

She does mention "Social Thatcherism" in DSY, so most likely focusing on some small initiatives there plus privatizing British Rail.

I doubt there's much chance of her surviving a 91/92 election in the first place. The Conservatives best bet would probably be to be the largest party in a hung parliament, and evne then she would probably have been replaced for someone more accommodating to a possibly coalition.

She wouldn't have gone after BR- Thatcher was very wary of opening that particular can of worms in the 1980s. Indeed, I'd say a fair few of the post-Thatcher privatisations won't happen here.

Correct about BR, when somone mentioned about privatisation of BR she said "never mention that again"!!! She belived that BR was the best of the state owned industries and believed it would be best left alone. She was happy for it to develop as it was by the late 1980's, with greater freedom, such as in the introduction of "Network South-East" in 1986 and regional sectors having more freedom but full privatisation would have never had happended.
