Militarily, not much. The man's been living in Australia for 20 years so I doubt Algeria would be blamed much. They might either increase or or just commit to further maintain their forces in the Middle East. I honestly don't know Rudd as well as I did Howard.

Domestically, we can expect stronger anti-terrorism measures like the American Patriot Act. I believe Australians would react more like Americans to a terrorist attack them the British. There might also me a stronger immigrant backlash, tougher immigration laws and a much deeper investigation into local muslim groups perhaps.
 
Cronulla style riots on a nationwide scale and a massive public backlash against immigration.
