Tellurus Pangea 250 mya and modern times
  • Here's the same map i posted in the map thread, except now it's labelled. Some places still needs names, and all names are not final.
    Tellurus 420 mya & 600 mya
  • Is that the Pangaea stage in the first of the two maps you just posted? That's amazing, this has to be one of the most geologically thorough worldbuilding projects I've seen thus far on

Yes it is. Thanks for the compliments, I really like paleogeography so worldbuilding is a fun exercise.
Here's another one i made, set before the last Pangea stage in this worlds' equivalent of the Paleozoic era. The color coding is the same as the last map so it should keep it obvious what is what.

Here's the "Pannotia" stage as well for gits and shiggles. EDIT: Remade to be like previous maps.

    Pannotia formation 600mya
  • Progress on the Rodinia map, i've laid out the fragments from it that combined into Eurusia (My worlds "Gondwana"). Now I just have to move them around and rebuild Rodinia. The colors are unrelated to the other maps, mostly.

    Paleogeographic history
  • Could i get some feedback i made on this writeup about Tellurus and its tectonic history?

~1.1 billion years ago to 750 million years ago: The Tellurus equivalent of Rodinia forms. Unknown cratonic fragments combined to form it. The majority of the worlds cratons are assembled surrounding the continent of Talamor. Central Ozara and Southern Rhodin are chains of islands and cratons moving toward the supercontinent as it moves toward the south pole. Several Snowball Tellurus events occur during this time.

750 mya - 600 mya: The Rodinian continent rifts along eastern margin of Talamor, and the fragments slowly collide with one another and the cratons sutured to southern Archeomedia (Equatoria, Serica and western Capricornia), forming the supercontinent of Pannotia and also the future lands of Rhodin and Ozara. This process doesn't fully complete until 520 mya but by then the supercontinent has fragmented, leaving behind the core of Protoeurusia.

600 mya - 420 mya: Archeomedia and Archeoborea (Talamor, Sibirica and Central Hatar) rifts from Protoeurusia (Avarda, Ozara, Rhodin and eastern Capricornia), but then also rift from each other. Archeomedia then breaks up into its constituent fragments; one of which, Central Hatar, collides with Northern Hatar: which rifted from the margin of Aquilonia and Ozara at an unknown time. Hatar, Sibirica and Talamor stay near eachother for the time, eventually reforming into Protoborea.

420 mya to 300 mya: Subduction trenches pull Protoborea, Protoeurusia and Archeomedia back towards eachother in a different configuration, eventually creating Pangea. Archeomedia and Protoeurusia collide first, forming the Trancapricornian Mountains. The continents move away from the south pole and towards the equator as they converge. The south pole passes from being in Rhodin to Ozara at this time.

300 mya - 200 mya: Pangea fully forms as Protoborea collides into northern Archeomedia. About halfway through the era, the largest mass extinction in the planets history takes place. The supercontinent begins to rift towards the end of this time as microcontinents rift from northern former Archeomedia (Capricornia/Avarda) and move towards Serratar (Serica, Sibirica and Hatar), And Talamor begins to break away.

200 mya - 175 mya: Pangea fully breaks apart as Equatoria and Serratar join Talamor in breaking off, forming the continent of Borea. The rest of the worlds combined landmasses , Notia, soon breaks up into Eurusia (Rhodin and Ozara) and Greater Capricornia (including Avarda). Malag at first rifts from Ozara, then rifts from Capricornia instead to drift with Ozara.

175 mya - 125 mya: Borea and Eurusia slowly break apart at this time. Southern Serica rifts from Capricornia and collides into Serratar. New Talamor rifts from Eurusia (Rhozaraland), and Avarda starts rifting as well. The tectonic plate carrying Talamor changes direction and new rifts form in between it and Equatoria and Natecuya. Also, Aquilonia begins colliding with Talamor towards the end of the period.

125 mya - 65 mya: Avarda moves towatds Serratar along with Rhodin, having recently rifted from Ozara finally during this time. New Talamor and Talamor finally collide, creating large inland seas. Capricornia becomes isolated during this time, along with Ozara and Equatoria. Talamor remains connected to Serratar through Aquilonia, and to Equatoria through Natecuya. This time period ends with another mass extinction, wiping out the dinosaurs and most other species almost everywhere.

65 mya - 5 mya: Avarda finally collides with Serratar and Rhodin follows not long after, creating the Mediterranean Sea. Talamor finally completely separates from Equatoria, but then begins collding with Ozara. This leads to a large population exchange. Ozara begins showing the opening stages of rifting apart with a large rift valley forming on the continent. Humanity's ancestors will soon roam this rift valley. At the very end of this time period, Tapron finally breaks off Avarda and moves towards, Capricornia, disrupting the world climate and causing another population exchange.

5 mya - 7,000 years ago: The Mediterranean Sea completely dries up when it is temporarily blocked off from the ocean by Rhodin's northeastward motion. The worlds landmasses are pretty much similar to modern times at this point. The north pole, blocked by Talamor and Serratar, experiences glaciations, which cause the worlds sea level to drop. Humankind evolves during this time, along with the invention of fire and the use of stone tools. They take advantage of the lower sea level to spread across the world. Anatomically modern humans appear at 300 kya, and by 40 kya most other species and subspecies of human are exctinct or endangered.

7 kya - Now: The last proglacial phase of the ice age ends and sea levels rise once more. Humanity, isolated and diverse, discovers farming, bronze working and eventually writing. The year is [5546 B.C.], and civilization has begun in at least one part of Tellurus.

Sorry for any spelling errors, i wrote this on my phone.

The area of Tellurus map results
  • Well, here are the results anyways. XD
This doesnt include the new antarctic lands.

    Molleweide projection map results
    area map 2.png

Tellurus 1,546,000 pixels 197,000,000 sq mi

Total sq mi ÷ total pixels =127.43 (multiply this number with pixels to get sq mi)

All oceans combined 977,808 pixels 124,602,073 sq mi

    Serica 81,944 pixels 10,442,124 sq mi (4th)

    Hatar 40,313 pixels 5,137,086 sq mi (6th)

    Rhodin 44,156 pixels 5,626,799 sq mi (5th)

The previous 3 combined 166,413 pixels 21,206,009,sq mi

    Talamor 110,194 pixels 14,042,021 sq mi (2nd)

    Ozara 127,566 pixels 16,255,735 sq mi (1st)

The previous 2 combined 237,760 pixels 30,297,757 sq mi

    Equatoria 69,010 pixels 8,793,944 sq mi (5th)

    Capricornia 93,713 pixels 11,941,842 sq mi (3rd)

Southeast Ocean islands 1,087 pixels 138,516 sq mi (7th)

    Grand total 196,980,141 sq mi

Something noteworthy in my opinion is that Tellurus has about 70 million square miles of land, meaning Tellurus is only 63% covered in water compared to Earth's 71%. I have no idea what this would do to the climate.

    c. -300 AF: Wheeled vehicles spread from Miscaya to Ahurastan and Hatar.
    c. -300 AF: The first proper cities are founded in Miscaya, things like dams, canals, inclined planes and levers are invented and used.
    c. - 200 AF: Archaic cuneiform sees usage in Miscaya, proto-writing using symbols for characters.
    c. -100 AF: The central Rhodin and northern Ozara have fully desertified at this point, forcing the inhabitants to settle near rivers, most of which begin farming and irrigating.
    c. -100 AF: Proto-writing begins in the Arhasi river valley, the land known as Tymria. It appears in the form of small ivory and clay tags used as labels for containers. They also begin using cattle in this area, and domesticate the wild ass (very funny). Several independent states form along the river.
    c. -100 AF: The Rasan Civilization begins in northeastern Avarda, the first true civilization in the subcontinent and sees the rise of city-states in the area.
    c. -100 AF: The Bronze age begins in the Katalian and Miscayan valleys.
    c. -50 AF: By this point, several city-states are established in Kyngir. The most influential in this era were Nissar and Marun.
-25 AF: Supposed year the mythical figure An-Luru rose to power in Nidunu, a smaller city state in Kyngir. He is said to have conquered or defeated the other cities of Kyngir, Edad, Urubar and Esirta during his reign, making him the leader of one of the first ever empires. He becomes the first king in Kyngir.
1 AF (Akwar's Founding / After Founding): The City of Akwar is founded in the Miscayan valley, and it's founders begin using a pictogram writing language, This date is used by several later empires as a way to trace back their lineage and legitimize their claims. It soon rises in power in Kyngir. Legend writes that the city was founded by Nidunuan King An-Luru, on top of an already existing smaller settlement.
65 AF: Supposed year of the death of An-Luru, if the legends turn out to be true. His empire collapses entirely upon his death, with the new city of Akwar becoming dominant over Nidunu and other cities for a time. No city-state's leader holds the title of king after him, and all eventually begin fighting for control to prove themselves worthy of the title.
70 AF: Tymria is united for the first time. All the states are conquered by Lord Akben of Riphem, who makes it the capital of the entire country.
c.100 AF: Drainage/sewage systems created in Avarda.
125 AF: Nidunu is destroyed by a flooding of the Miscaya river and the last alleged descendant of An-Luru is killed. The city is rebuilt over the next decades. The other cities of the region are affected as well, but to a lesser known extent.
c.200 AF: The population of the world is around 25 million by this year.
    c. 200 AF: Bronze age begins in Knoas.
c.220 AF The dominant cities of Kyngir are Akwar, Marun and Nissar. Smaller cities are Nidunu, Nagshe, Surun and Narshu.

    (220 AF
Two nascent civilizations exist in the dry northwestern corner of the continent of Rhodin. In the north, the civilization of the Tymrians, irrigating the Arhasi river and previously disunited, have been brought together under a single dynasty, which has ruled since 70 AF.
The second is the civilization of the Kyngirians, in the large Miscayan valley of western Rhodin. Many small city states, sharing the same language and this newly invented creation called writing, preside on the southern bank of the Miscaya river. Having long been ruled by priest-kings, a new era is dawning, an era that will mark the first chapters of history.)

c.300 AF: Approximate year that Edad is founded on the ruins of an older settlement north of Kyngir, lower on the Miscaya river. This gives them an advantage in river trade over the other city-states.
    c. 300 AF: Akwar is the richest city in Kyngir, and the largest in the world with 30,000 inhabitants.
c.330 AF: Akwar conquers Nissar and Nidunu, its lord declares himself King, the first since the death of An-Luru (if he existed).
c.350 AF: Supposed founding of the semi-mythical Gandao Kingdom
c.330-600 AF: Very vague details about political events in Miscaya during this time period.
c.460 AF: Nissar becomes dominant over Akwar at this point, taking the Kingship as well. Nidunu also becomes independent again.
c.600 AF: Nidunu defeats Nissar and takes the Kingship.
    c. 600 AF: Camels are domesticated.
c.620 AF: Akwar's lords become King for the second time after they burn down Nidunu.
620 AF: Writing is developed fully in Kyngir and Tymria, and recorded history officially begins.
675 AF: Edad is abandoned for a generation after it is burned down and destroyed by warriors from the neighboring city-state of Terit (possibly aided by the Urubarans).
680 AF: The kingship goes to Marun in northeastern Kyngir.
697 AF: Edad is reestablished, with it's new lord declaring himself king (separate from the kingship feud of Kyngir). Other Edadian cities (Terit, Muqihar, and Tuqut) are later conquered as well.
    c. 700 AF: Uhaakin people settle in Katal, their origins are unknown.
700 AF: Kutarim in Rasan is the largest city in the world, with about 50,000 people.
714 AF: Akwar defeats Marun and the city-states in between as well, its ruling dynasty becoming kings a third time.
720 AF: OFFICIAL START OF TIMELINE(2500 BC) Kyngir begins using a calendar that sets the founding of Akwar by An-Luru as year 1, and the current year as 720. The Kyngir kings in Akwar use this as mentioned before. It's spreads to the rest of the world much later.
c.720 AF onwards : Great pyramids are built in Kaerm and Tymria, along with many large temples. Scribes flourish in Kyngir.
c.720 AF: Sutarba is established east of Kyngir. Cities north and east of Kyngir grow in power.

(720 AF: Half a millennium later, and civilization has spread across the sea. The spread of writing leads to civilization forming northwest of the Kyngirians, many different tribes forming nation states. There are :
KYNGIR: The OGs. Already ancient at this point. Invented writing and perfected irrigation. They build large temples in each city to patron gods(They're basically Sumerians). Don't know it right know but they're past their prime.
SUTARBANS: A newer city-state upriver from Kyngir, they have have embraced writing and civilization, but that's not enough for some. At least one cup-bearer to a city's king has his mind on bigger and better things.
URUBARANS: Embracing writing greatly, have taking to archiving all of their short history so far. They speak a "Syriac" language similar to Eblaite. Already been in the city business for thousands of years.
EDAD: Similar to Mariote in language, they're the opposing group to Kyngir on the Miscaya River. About to start a hundred year long war with Urubar. It should be paying more attention to the south than the north, but they'll find out.
To the north of them lie the UHAAKIN tribes, polytheistic and reaping the benefits of their strategic location. One major tribe worships Nagadu, a fertility god with the body of a man and fish combined. Their people cross the straits of Katal to border the next land. They speak a language like that of early Canaanites.
ESIRTA: Combining a language isolate and Sutarban cuneiform, creates an odd place. House Navas rules the land during this time. Trade and cross-naval invasion are common with the Miscayans. They are most akin to Elam.
RASAN: Successful and prosperous, the Rasan people thrive in their irrigated cities. They are among the oldest civilizations, and incredibly peaceful compared to their neighbors. Equivalent to Harappa.
On an island in the Thalmedic, lies KNOAS. A thousand years after beginning the use of bronze tools, several towns have become prosperous enough to exert power over the nearby areas. They mostly trade with the natives of the other islands and the peninsulas to the west. Basically Minoans.
Going east, the TYMRIAN civilization continues growing in the Arhasi. It now has a new neighbor, the KAERM, in the south. From the Kaerm they learn pyramid building. Both nations know, or care, little of the other lands. Egypt and Nubia.
Far to the west, lie the early GANDAO kingdoms, whose dynasty has recently been overthrown by upstarts that will last for thousands of years. Or, at least that's what their descendants will write down.)

    Timeline (720-970 AF)
  • 720 AF - 1220 AF: Kutarim has 35,000 people during this time.
725 AF: Nagshe conquers all of Kyngir and take the Kingship for themselves.
755 AF: Nagshe collapses by this point, Nidunu takes the Kingship and Marun and Nissar become independent as well.
765 AF: Less than a decade later, Nidunu is defeated and conquered by Marun, leaving only themselves and Akwar independent in Kyngir. They remain in control several decades.
763-768 AF: War erupts between Edad and Urubar, with Urubar emerging victorious about half a decade later. Urubar is said to have allied itself with The city of Marun in order to defeat Edad.
c.770 AF: Esirtans tribes cross the Katal strait to attempt to occupy regions of Kyngir.
c.800 AF: Uhaakin and Katalic tribes begin settling the northern side of the Miscayan River, coming into conflict with Kyngirans.

In Avarda, the Vardic kingdoms are founded throughout the center of the subcontinent, with the center of power shifting southwards to the kingdoms of AYSALA, KUSALLA, and the smaller states of ATKUMIVA and SUDESNA. With many smaller, weaker realms filing in the remainder. The GANDAO kingdom in the west consolidates into a unified state. The declines of both Kadimar and Tymria are the beginning of the Great Collapse, and event that would occur over the next few generations throughout the Katal-based civilized world.

    2220 AF
The effects of the Great Collapse's invasions and migrations have drastically altered the map, seeing the complete disintegration of the Nasenite Empire and the fall of both Sutarba and Kadimar's empires as well. Tymria also fragmented into smaller dynasties during this time. NEO-NASENITE nations, the eminent being EPLA, DRAVAS(Ayazi-Nasenite mix), and SANGAR, rose up in Lotan while UMALAN tribes settled the Miscayan river valley. PELASIA entered a dark age after the collapse of the Mukanian civilization, seeing new city-states like IADAN rise in power. But not all news is bad, as the UHAAKIN people have unified into a single nation known as the Kingdom of SEMARON, and the Ayazi united into the Kingdom of KUBUSHAH as well. In Avarda the Vardic kingdoms of VASMA, SURATHUR and KURDIVAT are established, while the SAGAAN people create their own nations to the east. New lands include the language isolate SAZIHU in far northern Lotan, TAVARIC and ABASAN cultures on the eastern coast of Rhodin and the ACHTOMEC civilization to the far east in Talamor.

2233 AF: Semaron reaches its greatest extent, occupying all of Uhaakin (now only referring to the east coast) and Teselef.
c.2230 AF: Vrishali breaks away from Kusalla.
2241 AF: The Esirtans expel the Hannarans from Kadimar for the second time in history, replacing the Hannarans with themselves as the rulers of Kadimar.
2245 AF: Kadimar rises up against their Esirtan rulers and depose them.
2245 AF:The Qīngtóng army, consisting of loyal lords personal armies, wins a decisive victory against invading northern tribes. The emperor dies in battle, however.
2269 AF: The Qīngtóng attempt but fail to conquer tribes directly to the east.
c.2270 AF: Lubii tribes dominate lower Tymria.
2295 AF: Semaron splits into two separate kingdoms for time.
c.2300 AF: Dark ages end in Pelasia. Several cities rise to eminence in the peninsula, like Iadan and Urotas.
2319 AF: Sutarba begins expanding at the expense of the Umalan tribes in Miscaya and Katal.
2323 AF: An eclipse occurs in Pelasia and Lotan.
c.2330 AF: Rise of Sutarba: Edad is destroyed and Umalans in Miscaya are conquered. Only Kadimar remains independent.
2351 AF: Shortly after taking the city of Urubar, A revolt begins in the southern regions of the Sutarban Empire.

2356 AF:Two Serican provinces go to war with each other and the Qīngtóng armies fail to do anything about it, a sing of their failing power. Many governors withdraw their armies for personal uses afterwards, weakening the Qīngtóng's strength.
2358 AF: Sutarba conquers Neo-Nasenite kingdoms on the western side of the sea of Katal.
2360 AF: Kubushah unites in western Lotan, created by the Ayazi tribes.
2367 AF: With the rebels defeated, Sutarba begins taking the rest of Miscaya from the Umalans, leaving only Kadimar independent.
2369 AF: Urubar is conquered by Sutarba.
c.2370 AF: Ahichala breaks away from Aysalla in Avarda.

    2370 AF
Great empires rise once more as Sutarba becomes the dominant power in Miscaya and Katal, even vassalizing the NENAKIANS who themselves are colonizing the eastern Thalmedic Sea. Tymria also reunites as border clashes with the nearby LUBII tribe become more common. SANGAR become dominant in Lotan for a time, and in nearby Pelasia more city-states become dominant over the others, like UROTAS and ABANTA. The small principality of VRISHALI is founded in southern Avarda, and the YAMAT people create the first civilization in Ozara.

    2520 AF
The Sutarbans conquer a significant amount of the civilized world's population and territory, spreading from Kubushah in the northwest to Kamnag in the southeast. The ECBADAI (Neathuqi descendants or conquerors), Esirtans and the Sangarans are their vassals. SULUK has also completely conquered Tymria as well. The PELASIAN city-states begin settling coastlines all over the Thalmedic, especially coastal Lotan/Ahurastan and southern Albala, near the newly united DURSINI people. ARGÆAS is founded as well, directly south of Pelasia. The other significant change is that Serica has collapsed completely into many independent states and kingdoms, the most powerful being XU, YAN, ZHU, WEI, JI, CHENG, and XIN. The weak royal dynasty rules only the land around Chángchūn (mislabeled as Shendu, something I need to fix still. :p).

2533 AF: Sutarba pillages Kadimar after they attempt to revolt again, continuing their long-lasting rivalry.
2535 AF: The Sutarban Empire expands south and east in Miscaya similar to Buguran, nearing the border of Kamnag in the south.

2543 AF: Kadimar is rebuilt after being burnt down.
2543 AF: Sutarba goes to war with Tymria after rebels in Sutarba were found to be supported by Tymria.
2545 AF: The Tymrians temporarily hold back the Sutarban advance by supporting another short-lived rebellion in Nenakia.
2548 AF: The second invasion, however, is a success; and Riphem in Lower Tymria is taken by the Sutarbans.
2553 AF: Suluk armies force the Sutarbans back out of Tymria for a time.
2554 AF: Tymria is finally conquered by Sutarba, and the Suluk retreat to their homeland.
    c. 2560 AF: Avanin, the capital of Sutarban Empire(the biggest empire yet), is the world's biggest city with 150,000 people living in it.
c.2560 AF: Vaethalia is founded at the "Gates" of the Blood Sea by Pelasian colonists near the original site of Shawilu.
2564 AF: Tymria breaks free from Sutarba.
2567 AF: The Esirtan Empire is formed after they break free from Sutarba and conquer the Ecbadai.
2569 AF: Kadimar revolts yet again.
c.2570 AF: Settlers from the south reach the Islands of Unia in northwest Serica.
c.2570 AF: Tyhrrus is founded by Lavinic people in Albala on the Ryphon river, named and led by a man named Septus Tyhrricus who becomes the first king as well.

2570 AF: Esirta and Kadimar break free from the SUTARBAN empire, with varying results. Tymria breaks free from Suluk rule, The city of TYHRRUS is founded in Albala, and Nenakian colonists create the nation of QARNENAK in northwest Rhodin. GIRIGAM is established in Avarda, and EPLA reaches the height of its power in the Blood Sea region. The Serican states are slowly conquered by the more powerful ones, and war becomes commonplace.
