[Television Query] - Networks not from California / New York?

So I was thinking recently of Ted Turner, and his accomplishments and innovations in the television industry. One thing that particularly stood out to me was that Georgia's current reputation as a market for film and television productions could in part be attributed to the growth of the Turner corporation and it's decades long foothold in the state. Whether it's Cartoon Network, CNN, TBS, TNT or one of his other channels, they all had at least some of their operations in Georgia.

And it got me curious as to whether there were any similar cases elsewhere in the United States. Just based on my recollection I could pin down Tribune and Weigel in Chicago, BET in Washington, Sinclair in Maryland / Pennsylvania, CMT and TNN in Tennessee, Sunshine Network in Florida, NESN in Massachussetts, the old Prime Sports Network out of Colorado, etc...

But I wanted to see if there were any major players I wasn't thinking of, or minor players, or even would-be or could-have-been players who weren't in California or New York?

Would be happy to hear any candidates, so thanks in advance.

I believe this belongs in Chat

Well, there's Miami, but that's reserved for the two principal Spanish-speaking networks Univisión (whose origins harked back to San Antonio, Texas) and Telemundo (because, well, era boricua)

For this question to be possible, you need to butterfly away the existence of Broadway and Hollywood where the concentration of talents are.

I don't think this subject is political enough to belong in chat. Networks are connected to broadcasting. While Broadway and Hollywood are the seats of entertainment, there is no reason Chicago, given its central location, could be not be a center for broadcast networks. If the logic holds, St. Louis and Memphis might be media centers as well.

There was Chicago...WGN could have become a superstation alongside turner or with enough luck, a protoCNN or what fox later become?

In the days of radio and again in the early days of cable TV, WGN was a regional powerhouse. It's predominance faded as other even more localized stations - both radio and TV sports enhanced their output (literal and figurative)

Yeah but the basis is there, maybe with some luck and bold movements(getting tv rights for all chicago sports and pushing them nationwide, some original content and maybe getting it via Cable carrier or pushing to become fox before murdoch cross the atlantic) could work
