Teddy Roosevelt goes fo third term

Well he obviously would do something in WWI but what?

Actually for him to actually do something about WWI he would need to run for a fourth term. He would obviously win a third term and maybe he could do something to help stablize Europe during his 3rd term. Maybe by putting on a summit for the major European powers to meet. Telling them to add more personel on their security detail, watch out for assassins, and etc may help somewhat.

Talk big and carry a big stick-Theodore Roosevelt
One of my favorite quotes ever:)

It is actually "Speak softly and carry a big stick", though I concur.

If he did go for the fourth term, he would have brought us into World War One much sooner, as he advocated joining it on the side of the Entente. I can also see him having a much fiercer reaction to the raids of Pancho Villa. Perhaps a short war with Mexico would arise. If he does indeed enter the war in 1914, or even the following year, might it end sooner? He would probably take the German possessions in the Atlantic rather than letting the Japanese have them.

Edit: Pacific, not Atlantic. My apologies.

Alternately, Teddy would have had the international political clout to quickly end WW1 before it spiraled out of control, not least by providing a much stronger front against Germany.

Oh I typed it wrong, Donald Trumps book came into my mind when I was typing my post down:eek:

I was talking about what he could do on his 3rd term to help stem WWI further away then OTL. If he ignores Europe for some reason and WWI started he would advocate joining the Entente. This could shorten WWI and cost a lot more American lives then OTL.

He did, in a roundabout way. He was bored of the Presidency in 1908, but was enraged by taft's policies. So he went for the Republican Nomination in 1912, but Taft beat him, despite substantial popular backing for roosevelt (the bosses and old guard prefered taft). Roosevelt then formed a Progressive Party, which actually outpreformed Taft at the polls by 700,000 votes. The problem was, although roosevelt and taft between them did better then wilson, his 6,300,000 votes was enough to defeat them both seperatly.

edit: roosevelt could have won; he carried states as diverse as Pennsylvania, California, South dakota, and Washington despite taft acting as a spoiler.
