POD: On July 16, 1945, the first atomic bomb was detonated at Trinity Site in New Mexico. The explosion ripped a hole in the fabric of space. Doctor Robert Oppenheimer's words "I am become death, destroyer of worlds" unwittingly closed a necromantic ritual. The fireball vanished, but the mushroom cloud remained. This was the Hellstorm, a tornado of seething magical energy.

July 18th, 1945: Worried, indeed terrified, by the disappearance of the blast and the strange skull shape of what had been expected to be a mushroom shaped cloud, Oppenheimer reports in a secret meeting that the new atomic weapons must not be used against Japan. He is backed by all the scientists of the Manhattan project, as well as by the generals who witnessed the test.
July 19th, 1945: President Truman reads the preliminary report sent by the Manhattan Project. He agrees with its conclusions.
