Tarpit Carnivore

Anyone interested in doing a "Caveman Movie" style collaborative timeline? Nothing flat out ASB like dinosaurs but too detailed to really be historical fiction. I'm thinking the POD could be around 43,000 years BCE. That coincides with the discovery of fossils in areas like Italy and France of early Cro-Magnon tribes. As far as I know we don't really have any thing like this sort of ATL...

What would you differently than Jean Auel has done? More Marija Gimbutas? Less? Something else?

Best,

Hm, maybe something echoing the old Kurgan hypothesis? Although the proposed date of the POD is far earlier than that. There's a ton of possibilities.

I hope i spelled it right. This is about the winter ceremonies of the Ertebolle people of Jutland. the Germanic people had a tradition of Gullveig who dared the Aesir to kill her, which they did three times. This is very similar to the Tokwid woman of the winter ceremonies of the Northwest coast Kwakiutl people. there are also traditions of people like Cuchalain being in a fury. He is calmed down only after seeing his naked aunt and other women. This is similar to the Hamatsa ceremony of the Kwakiutl. Dumezil has touched on these ceremonies.
The theory is that the Indo-europeans inherited myths based on these ceremonies from the Ertebolle people who had a similar lifestyle to the Northwest coast people.

Well the obvious point of departure is the HN and HS both

The obvious point of departure is the HN and HS both surviving and lasting to the Neolithic Revolution...

This is a bit earlier than the time period you want, but is a good example of paleofiction that is very different from Jean Auel http://www.boneville.com/comic/tuki-season-one-summary-page/
